New York Attorney General Issues Subpeonas to Baum Law Firm

New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has issued subpoenas to the law firm of Steven J. Baum, which has handled approximately 40% of foreclosure cases in the state. Schneiderman also issued subpoenas to Pillar Processing, a default serving firm set up by Baum.

Although the AG’s office has declined to comment on the pending investigation, it appears that Schneiderman is pursuing action separate from or supplemental to the negotiation a coalition of state AGs has entered into with major players in the foreclosure industry.
